These proceedings contain the papers presented at the 6th Australasian Symposium on Grid Computing and e-Research (AusGrid), held on 24 January 2008 in Wollongong, in conjunction with the Australasian Computer Science Week (ASCW). In total, 17 submissions were received, mostly from Australia, but also from New Zealand, United States, Asia and Europe. The full version of each paper was carefully reviewed by at least three referees, and evaluated according to its originality, correctness, readability and relevance. A total of eight papers were accepted. The accepted papers cover topics from grid applications, e-research, data grids, middleware, performance, collaboration, grid economy and next generation grid.
The Symposium featured a keynote address by Gordon Bell about the project MyLifeBits, a project that chronicles a person's life by encoding every aspect of one's communication with people and machines. There was also an invited talk by Dr Rhys Francis on the Australian Research Collaboration Service (ARCS) and the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).
